REINHOLD VORSCHNEIDER
CINEMATOGRAPHER
Reinhold Vorschneider studied philosophy and political science before beginning his training at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb). As a cinematographer, he works primarily with auteur filmmakers, including recurring collaborations with artists such as Rudolf Thome, Angela Schanelec, Thomas Arslan, Christoph Hochhäusler, Benjamin Heisenberg, and Maria Speth.
Such collaborations have yielded numerous critically acclaimed films, including Heisenberg's “Der Räuber,” which screened in competition at the Berlinale and was nominated for the German and Austrian Film Awards and the German Camera Award.
Vorschneider’s work has also been repeatedly featured at Cannes, including both “Schläfer” by Benjamin Heisenberg and “Marseille” by Angela Schanelec. For his work on “Wild” by Nicolette Krebitz, which premiered at Sundance, he received the Marburg Camera Award and the German Film Award.
Vorschneider’s most recent documentary work, Maria Speth's “Herr Bachmann und Seine Klasse,” was awarded the Jury Prize at the 2021 Berlinale, the German Film Prize and was also nominated twice for the European Film Award.

COMING UP
Scorched Earth
Reinhold Vorschneider worked again with Thomas Arslan. His new feature film, produced by Schramm Film Koerner Weber Kaiser, is the second part of a trilogy after "In the Shadow".
"Scorched Earth" had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival 2024 in the Panorama section and was shown at various other festivals.
It has been showing in German cinemas since July 2024.

Reinhold Vorschneider's latest project, again with Christoph Hochhäusler for Heimatfilm, celebrated its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival in 2024.
In the thriller the female contract killer Tez is hired by a legendary gangster to take revenge for the murder of his courier and becomes the hunted herself.
