DIRECTOR/WRITER
Anne Zohra Berrached is an award-winning German-Algerian director and screenwriter. She studied at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg.
With her first feature film „Zwei Mütter" she won the Perspektive Deutsches Kino award at the Berlinale. Her second feature film "24 Wochen" premiered at the Berlinale as the only German entry in the competition and received several awards and award nominations, including the Gilde Deutscher Filmkunsttheater's "Best Film in Competition" award. The film was also nominated four times at the German Film Awards and won the Lola in silver.
In 2021, she received another invitation to the Panorama section of the Berlinale for her feature film „Co-Pilot/ Die Welt wird eine andere sein." This relationship-focused drama is based on the biography of one of the 9/11 hijackers, the Lebanese terrorist Ziad Jarrah.
In 2023, Berrached directed "A Better Place," a series produced by Komplizen Serien and Studiocanal Series that explores what would happen if there were a world without prisons.
