FRIEDER WITTICH

DIRECTOR

Frieder Wittich studied directing at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF). For one of his first directorial projects as a student, the McDonald’s spots “Keine Gegenfrage,” he won the Commercial Award at First Steps as well as the Porsche Young Talent Award International Commercial Film.

Wittich‘s first short film, “Mosquito,” received several awards, including the Kodak Film Award in Lodz and the Reel Frontier Award at the Arizona Film Festival. His short film “Opus” received awards at the Bayreuth and Augsburg Film Festivals as well as additional audience awards.

In 2009, Wittich directed the coming-of-age story “13 Semesters,” his first feature-length film. Together with Oliver Ziegenbalg, he co-wrote the screenplay. “13 Semesters” premiered at the Zurich Film Festival and had its German premiere at the Hofer Filmtage.

Frieder Wittich’s 2015 film “Beck's Last Summer,” starring Christian Ulmen, based on the novel of the same name by Benedict Wells, was another co-writing collaboration with Oliver Ziegenbalg. The film premiered at the Munich Film Festival.

Since 2000, Frieder Wittich has also shot many award-winning commercials and international campaigns.
