SOPHIE KLUGE

DIRECTOR/WRITER

Sophie Kluge studied film studies in Paris and received a master's degree in directing at London's Kings College and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

In addition to her work at the Old Vic Theatre in London and as an assistant director at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, she directed numerous short films that screened at international festivals. Her first short film, “Ein flüchtiger Moment” (2008) with Josef Bierbichler and Schorsch Kamerun, was shown at the Hofer Filmtage, among others. For the short film “Coroussel,” Kluge received the Special Jury Prize at the Amsterdam Film Festival in 2014.

She first made the leap to feature films as co-writer of “SMS für Dich” (2016) by Karoline Herfurth. Kluge's own feature-length debut, the critically acclaimed film “Golden Twenties” premiered at the Munich Film Festival in 2019.

Sophie Kluge is represented by Katrin Näher.
