WRITER
Chris Silber is a multi-award-winning writer, producer, and showrunner. He grew up bilingual in a family of translators in Berlin.
Silber began his career working as an actor and music journalist. At the age of 24, he made his debut as a writer with an adaptation of Puccini's Tosca for Vienna's Burgtheater. Following this project, he began to explore the world of film by translating screenplays and plays.
Some of Silber’s award-winning credits include “Good Bye, Lenin!,” which won the German and European Film Awards for Best Film and Best Screenplay and was nominated for Golden Globe and BAFTA Awards, “Nordwand” (North Face), which won the German Film Critics Award for Best Screenplay, and “Ich bin dann mal weg” (I'm Off Then), an immense popular success which has reached nearly two million viewers.
Silber also wrote the scripts for television films such as “Das Wunder von Kärnten” (A Day for a Miracle), which won an International Emmy Award and the Romy for Best Screenplay, and “Die Dasslers,” which won the Bernd Burgemeister Television Award. Recently, he served as both head writer and creative producer on the 2022 series “Sam – Ein Sachse,” one of Disney Star's first German-language productions.
Chris Silber lives and works in Germany and the USA. He is a member of the German Film Academy and the Writers Guild of America.
